About me

I’m Farhan Syed, an orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on hip and knee replacement and complex trauma. I began my medical journey in Hyderabad, India, where I qualified in 2007 and continued my post-graduate training in orthopaedic surgery. In 2012, I moved to the UK for further career advancement. By 2017, I obtained my FRCS(Tr & Orth) and pursued specialist fellowship training in trauma and lower limb joint replacement surgery.

Expertise and Patient Care

In addition to my NHS work at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, I also see patients at The Meriden Hospital. This includes patients referred through NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS), those with insurance, and self-pay patients. This allows me to provide care to a wide range of patients, ensuring they receive the treatment they need. Whether it’s managing complex trauma, performing hip and knee replacement, or providing post-operative care, my goal is to improve the quality of life for all my patients.

In addition to my professional commitments, I enjoy spending time with my family and participating in recreational sports like cricket, badminton, and squash. It’s a balance that keeps me grounded and energised for my work.

Research & Teaching

I have experience in research, with involvement in audits and large multicentre randomised control trials. I have presented my research findings at conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.

I enjoy teaching and am an educational/clinical supervisor for trainees at different career stages. Additionally, I organise educational meetings to enhance postgraduate doctors’ training and am involved in teaching of phase 3 students at Warwick Medical School. My local service improvement projects encompass setting up a virtual fracture clinic service, and optimising patient pathways in arthroplasty during my fellowship at Warwick Hospital.
